TRAINING

The trainers below are committed to positive reinforcement training & fear-free/force-free methods. This is important to us as we’ve had families return dogs to us having used aversive training methods that ended up causing anxiety & aggression.

It is very important to your dog & the relationship you’re building with them to understand how prong, choke & shock collars, physical punishment & lack of proper socialization in young puppies can cause lasting damage & can increase the potential of behavioral issues.

BEHAVIORAL VETS

Often owners wait too long to utilize medication for anxious or destructive behaviors in their pets. What can appear to be aggression or reactivity, is often anxiety or fear, or even possibly pain.

The vets below can help you find the best way to help your pets by recommending behavioral modification & medications if needed.

THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY (OSU)

The Behavorial Medicine Clinic offers services to owners of companion animals with behavioral issues, including, but not limited to, human-directed aggression, inter-pet aggression, separation anxiety, inappropriate elimination, fears, phobias, compulsive behaviors & cognitive dysfunction. They are experienced in addressing the behavior problems of dogs & cats & the concerns of their families. They also offer puppy classes.

ANIMAL CARE CENTER AT CHERRY WAY

Dr. Duncan has an interest in behavioral modification & is Low Stress Handling® Silver Certified. This means she has gone through additional training to understand how to help your pet have a easier time at vet visits. Additionally, she is able to make recommendations on medication for pets that need a little extra help in managing stress, separation anxiety & other struggles. With the assistance of an onsite trainer (Phil), you can look forward to vet visits that do not become traumatic experiences.
